While other organistations stage aggressive protests and go to extreme measures to get their messages across, Greenpeace champions non-violent direct action - a philosophy it should be proud of. Established to preserve and protect the environment, the organisation has always had a strong visual presence in the media, from its striking logo to its aesthetically-arresting ads. Launched this year, the Greenpeace Design Awards honour the organisation's visual history, with a panel of judges that includes creative professionals working in the fields of graphic design, illustration, photography and visual communication. Entrants will have a chance to bring about a real change in society, with their work considered for use by Greenpeace Australian Pacific campaigns. As if that wasn't enough, the winner will also receive a Greenpeace Design Awards Trophy - definitely something to display in your cabinet at home! The awards take place on 31 July in the Kerry Packer Civic Gallery at the University of South Australia. We, for one, wouldn't miss it for the world.
