Hotel D'Art

Located in Corrubbio, Italy, the Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà is the perfect place to stay for those looking for both accommodation and art. Proprietor Dino Facchini, who also owns the Byblos fashion line, wanted the hotel to act as a permanent contemporary art exhibition, with works on show from the likes of Alessandro Mendini (who designed much of the hotel's furniture), Anish Kapoor and David Tremlett. As you'd expect, the interiors are pretty eclectic, with photographs of nudes by Vanessa Beecroft hanging on the walls of the frescoed ballroom and crazily-coloured Baroque headboards, harlequin patterns, fridges with painted faces and asymmetrical mirrors in the guest rooms. But aside from being a house of visual fun, the Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà goes beyond mere aesthetics in its mission to accommodate its well-heeled guests; the property also has a romantic Roman-style swimming pool, an on-site spa, a meticulously-manicured garden with swooping arches and trickling fountains, and a gorgeous restaurant serving up mouthwateringly good Italian cuisine. With Romeo and Juliet's hometown of Verona a mere seven kilometres away, it's not hard for you and your star-crossed other-half to live out your very own love story here; if not with each other, then with the gorgeous art that surrounds you.
