With work that touches on politics, science, style and society, Marcovici's latest billion-dollar work is by far his most outspoken yet. So what does one billion dollars actually look like? In the words of the artist; "One Billion Dollars is stacked on twelve standard pallets, altogether 10 million 100 USD notes. One Billion Dollars is not so much about what you see but what you could do or not do with the money. Besides this, it is the most expensive piece of art ever made." Confusing, perhaps, as the artwork hasn't technically been made yet. Although it's a conceptual project, however (no bank actually has a billion dollars to spare), the artist is currently employing a strategy to realise his vision. Lord knows if that involves drilling through Fort Knox of shaking out the Sultan of Brunei's piggy bank, but Marcovici seems like he's a man on a mission. We just hope he knows where he's going to exhibit such a valuable piece of art!
