Spread across 113 acres, the Atlantis resort is made up of two pink-hued towers joined by a bridge and is the sister hotel of the renowned resort of the same name in the Bahamas. Despite being criticised for its environmental impact and sheer extravagance, Kerzner International - the development company behind the project - pulled out all the stops to ensure that it is one of the most incredible places to stay on the planet, complete with a £13,000-a-night suite and an oversized open-air tank holding 65,000 types of sealife. The decadence doesn't stop there, either; the hotel also features 1,539 gloriously-designed rooms, a 1,800-seat theatre and a restaurant headed up by superstar celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli. There's also an on-site spa, nightclub and everything else every well-heeled guest could ever possibly need. As you'd expect, the hotel's launch - which took place this month - was a star-studded party that cost just over $20-million. Marked by the world's largest fireworks display and a performance by Kylie Minogue, it truly was an affair to remember. Although it pains us to say it, the event may have been even more incredible than Gunpowder's very own launch earlier this month. Then again, if we had $20-million to blow on a party we're certain ours would have been even more over-the-top!
