As you'd expect from a Philippe Starck collaboration, the Faena Hotel + Universe is a cut above the rest of the city's hotels with everything from an on-site cabaret stage to an in-house hamman. Comprising 110 rooms, the new hotel occupies an old grain silo and transforms it into a hotel fit for discerning Gunpowder readers. There are a number of dining options available at the hotel, but our favourite is the formal dining room, decked out in a striking white and red colour palette and featuring quirky unicorn heads mounted on the walls. Guests are also able to enjoy an oversized swimming pool flanked by ravishing red sun-loungers, a sumptuous gym complete with red workout equipment and an old-world lounge and library that wouldn't look out of place in a moody Moscow mafia den. And the hotel isn't only for temporary guests, either; those who'd prefer to live here full-time can do so by snapping up one of the apartments for sale in the residential section. With every nook and cranny gorgeously thought out by the talented designer, the Faena Hotel + Universe just gave us another reason to be Starck-raving mad about the sexy South American city.
