W For Wow
Located in one of the soaring International Commerce Centre Cullian towers, the W Hong Kong has Chinese businessmen all a flutter with its five-star interiors and world-class hospitality. There are 393 guestrooms in total, all of which are decked out by superstar designers Nicholas Graham and Yasumichi Morita. The duo have really gone to town on the project, with each assigned a specific floor to design. While each floor is reflective of their individual personalities, both are furnished to the highest standard with iPod docks, flatscreen plasma TVs and contemporary artworks. And if that isn't luxurious enough, then guests with money to burn can check into either of the two suites; 'Wow' and 'Extreme', which are both like oversized downtown Manhattan apartments. The defining feature of the hotel, however, is the Wet swimming pool and Jacuzzi located on the rooftop. Overlooking the entire city and set against the backdrop of an huge butterfly mosaic created by Australian designer Fabio Ongarato, it truly is a world unto its own. Together with all the usual W amenities, such as an on-site spa, bar and restaurant, the W Hong Kong has just pipped The Peninsula to the post as Gunpowder's favourite Hong Kong haunt.
