A clean break from Hawaii's signature style, Hotel Renew stands proudly near the famed sands of Wahiki Beach and bills itself as Hawaii's first luxury boutique hotel. Conceived by acclaimed San Francisco designer Jiun Ho, the hotel comprises just 72 designer rooms, each with Shoji screens, dimmable lights, fine thread-count sheets and 80-inch flatscreen TVs. While all of the rooms looks fabulous decked out in a stylish monochromatic colour palette, we highly recommend the Premier Ocean View room for frisky honeymooners, with views out over the choppy Pacific Ocean and a king-size bed on which to consummate vows in style. When done getting, er, down and dirty, guests can enjoy Lounge Renew, a comfortable parlour where smoothies and light bites can be enjoyed in the day and potent cocktails can be quaffed by night. Those who prefer to travel with their four-legged companions rather than their two-legged ones are also catered for here, with small dogs welcomed with open arms. The eco twist is evident at the hotel, too, with natural materials used throughout. Free from the stereotypical design template of other hotels on this lush island, Hotel Renew is indeed a breath of fresh air - with no grass skirts or floral wreaths in sight.
