MYLA

Strictly Soho

Having opened this month, Bureau is the newest addition to London's growing number of members clubs and is so hot right now it's in danger of setting its members alight. Hidden away under Kingly Court on Soho's oldest club site, the club is hoping to bring back a members club in the truest sense of the word by operating a strict door policy that will keep out uninvited guests in trainers and chavvy baseball hats. Inside, things are kept to a small scale with a boutique-style capacity of just 80 likeminded inviduals swanning about. Created by Satmoko Ball architects, who can also be credited for the luxe bowels of Boujis and Chinawhite, the interiors of Bureau are classic but contemporary, with dazzling Swarovski crystal chandeliers dangling overhead, an eclectic mix of furniture ranging from 30s-style antiques to modern statement pieces, and a bold palette of sumptuous fabrics and edgy patterns. Aside from Bureau's jaw-droppingly beautiful surroundings (which have, on occasion, managed to take members' breaths away), its service is what keeps smart-suited business executives and stylish city-slickers filing for their own memberships; rather then queuing members swipe a card at the door to gain instant access and instead of jostling for prime position at the bar members can relax in a plush armchair and enjoy tableside mixology. Incredibly, members' favourite cocktails are recorded on the in-house computer system and remembered for each visit, and the music tastes of all members are considered before a DJ takes to the deck to take chilled-out into party central. And it's not just Dampierre Ambassadeurs and a seemingly endless drinks list members can enjoy at Bureau, either; Michelin-worthy gourmet food is available, too, so there's no need to leave the comfort of this VIP boudoir. Like, ever.
