Cuckoo Land
Tinged with edgy rock 'n' roll influences, the restaurant and bar on the ground level features oversized mirrors, sleek black tables and shiny purple armchairs, all lit by a ceiling studded with violet spots. Fortunately, the food and drink live up to the heady décor, with a menu that's headed up my master chef Fernando Stovell and a host of mixologists on-hand to whip up innovative cocktails such as the club's famous beetroot martini. The atmosphere is eclectic here, with a healthy mix of dark-eyed rock 'n' rollers from Camden taking to the dance floor alongside preppily-dressed Mayfairers. And for those who don't want to mingle with the common folk, including the likes of Orlando Bloom and Sienna Miller who enjoy getting up to the no good inside, there's a stylish members club in the basement. While trendy clubs in the capital may come and go quicker than Sienna's men, the owners of this wickedly hedonistic hangout can rest easy knowing that a good classic like the Cuckoo Club never dies.
