Sporting Style
Last year, Chanel brought us the Chanel football and the Chanel tennis racket; this year, Karl Lagerfeld and his chums are no less humorous, with a Chanel surfboard and a Chanel bike in its Sport Spring/Summer 2008 collection. While there's certainly nothing funny about having style, we do struggle to imagine a ripped surfer taking to the waves on a Chanel surfboard. Aside from looking a bit flashy, it's just damn impractical; after all, who'd want to risk their board getting a battering from ferocious waves, particularly when it doesn't come cheap? Nevertheless, for those serious about sporting style, this range by the French fashion house will certainly make exercise all the more bearable, with cycling helmets, fifties-style bikinis, high-waisted shorts and hooded jackets adorned with crocheted corsages also on offer.
