Model American

Entitled Metamorphoses of an American, Lagerfeld's latest foray into luxury publishing features five years in the flourishing career of Brad Kroenig, with hundreds of photos all shot by Lagerfeld himself. Standing just over six-foot, Kroenig has appeared in hundreds of advertising campaigns and fashion shows, including ones for Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Justin Cavalli, Perry Ellis and Fendi, and was ranked number one at models.com at the time of printing. Lagerfeld said of his project; "I thought it would be interesting to follow the physical evolution of someone. Without him knowing it, he has an unbelievable range. It's a kind of gift. He knows nothing about these things. It's fun for somebody to skate on these images and interpretations without being an actor - the characters, the situations, the attitudes, while at the same time to stay a completely modern all-American." While we're never entirely sure what the hell Lagerfeld is going on about, we have a feeling the flamboyant German designer is talking about Kroenig's ability to look like James Dean one minute and Errol Flynn the next. Indeed, throughout the tome Lagerfeld shoots Kroenig against a backdrop of cultural references from film and literature, with the model posing as various icons without losing his sense of self or identity as a model. A must-have for fashion aficionados everywhere, Lagerfeld's 768-page book would look chic on any stylish coffee table.
