Despite crafting jaw-droppingly beautiful hats for the likes of Jodie Kidd, Mariette is best known for creating the most expensive hat in the world (above right). Priced at a whopping £1.5-million, the Chapeau d'Amour is an incredible creation comprising enough dazzling diamonds and gorgeous gems to put Elton John's jewellery box to shame. Covered in rare woven platinum cloth, the celebrity milliner truly outdone himself with the flamboyant ivy-and bluebell-inspired show-stopper. But it isn't only out-of-reach extravagance Mariette is capable of, however; he's recently launched Bejewelled, a collection featuring headbands, tiaras, hatpins, brooches, bracelets and necklaces. Adorned with Mariette's signature diamante crystal, the range is attainable for those who don't have a spare £1.5-million to splurge.
