Sin City
Starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda, respectively, Sex and the City has gained cult status since it first aired in 1998. Since those early beginnings on HBO, the leading ladies have been catapulted into the realm of superstardom, particularly Sarah Jessica Parker, whose quirky fashion sense in the series earned her lucrative contracts with leading fashion houses and a clothing line of her very own. Not to be outdone, the other girls haven't been far from the pages of the press, either; Kim Cattrall has turned from 80s has-been into a modern-day icon, while Kristin Davis was caught up in a recent sex scandal (who'd have thought it?!) and Cynthia Nixon came out as a lesbian. Insiders have kept tight-lipped about the plot of the feature-length movie, though trailers released so far reveal that Carrie is stood up at the altar by Mr Big, Samantha is struggling to remain monogomous to Smith, Charlotte finally becomes pregnant and Miranda's marriage collapses when Steve cheats on her. Rumour was also rife that a main character would die, but that has been put to rest by recent reviews, thank God (perhaps studio execs were terrified of the repercussions, with thoughts of angry girls and gay men armed with torches and pitch-forks?). Wonderfully sparkly with sequins and sashaying galore, but with humour, wit and poignancy added to the mix, Sex and the City: The Movie certainly won't disappoint the thousands of Jimmy Choo-loving fans out there. |
