Building on the success of the original Kingly Club in Soho, which has hosted private parties for the likes of Tom Cruise and Scarlett Johansson, the new Kingly Club will be the social highlight of Covent Garden, comprising a Japanese restaurant, lounge bar and VIP mezzanine. Charismatic club kingpin Dezzi McCausland is the man behind the luxurious new venue, who bought the vacant premises at St Martin’s Lane just over 18 months ago and has since spent a fortune (₤70,000 on ornamental fish alone, apparently) transforming it into the pinnacle of his empire. In the basement is Kyashii, which has space for 90 well-heeled diners in tranquil, Zen-like surroundings complete with oversized saltwater aquariums. Above this is Kingly’s lounge bar, which is situated on the first floor and decked out in a distinctive black and lemon colour. Open from midday, city-slickers have the choice of knocking back expertly-mixed cocktails or getting some work done courtesy of the free WiFi that’s available. And if that’s not enough to lure you through the Kingly Club’s flash glass doors, then the VIP mezzanine beckons on the second floor, where rockstars will undoubtedly run amok and business execs will let their slicked-back hair down. Welcome to the king of clubs; the clue's in the name. Opening 29th May.
