Rainbow Bright
Built by Simone Giostra & Partners together with Arup, the wall is part of the big build-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and will display art-related events from artists in China, Europe and the US. Set to go live sometime this month - no doubt plugged into the mother of all electricity sockets - the Media Wall is located near the site of the Olympic Games at the Xicui entertainment complex. Using a photo voltaic system to harvest solar energy during daylight hours and to illuminate the integrated glass curtain by night, the structure showcases Beijing's increasing concern for the environment. The largest LED colour display ever erected, here the people of Beijing prove that 'made in China' isn't always about plastic goods.
