Under My Umbrella
Despite being made iconic through appearances in movies such as Singing In The Rain and My Fair Lady, up until now umbrellas have been relatively unadventurous in their design. Surprising, really, considering how many people hold one above their head every year! Thankfully, London-based umbrella-maker JOI has seen the, er, light, so to speak, and has created a luxury range of super-stylish umbrellas that will sit pretty above any man-or lady-about-town's head. By collaborating with some of the finest conemporary artists out there, such as Stefan Marx and Jethro Haynes, JOI's collection of rain-shielders proves that old objects can be rediscovered and reinvented in completely new and interesting ways. Hamish Duncan, JOI's founder, said: "Every umbrella I saw on the street looked boring, always black or grey. Sometimes I'd see a design, but it was usually a logo and on the outside. I thought there was nothing for the most important person; the one under the umbrella." Indeed, which is why JOI will bring a little ray of sunshine on even the dullest days, with an explosion of colour opening up on the inside of its eye-catching range.
