Chair Man
Unveiled at this year’s Salone de Mobile (the world’s most prestigious design fair, in case you’ve been living under a rock), the simple piece of furniture is ridiculously innovative in both its function and concept. Appropriately called the Pregnant Chair, the frame comes with a smaller child’s chair stashed beneath the seat. According to the designer, the chair "expresses the beautiful physical and emotional relationship that exists between a mother and her child." While we’re not one for slushy nonsense, we couldn’t help but ooh and ahh when we heard those poignant words – especially coming out of the mouth of a designer, not known for their people skills, let alone their paternal instinct. Jansen continued, "The two are both completely reliant on each other emotionally, developing a truly interconnected relationship that is evident even in their physicality." Perfect for a couple looking to furnish a nursery, or for an emotional mother looking to bestow a gift on her child, the Pregnant Chair proves that four legs are indeed between than two.
