World's Greatest

The experience of the Burj Al Arab begins the moment you land, with a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce picking you up on the tarmac. It's then off to the hotel, which stands 321-metres tall against the honey-like hue of the Dubai sunset. Once you've checked in, you'll be whisked to one of the hotel's 202 sumptous suites, each split over two levels. With views out over the Arabian Gulf, some features you may find in your room include a rotating four-poster canopy bed, a private cinema, a private elevator and a separate butler's entrance. If you ever leave your room - and we can't for one minute imagine why you would - then the Burj Al Arab has pretty much every amenity under one shimmering glass roof, including a spa and a host of award-winning restaurants. Highly recommended is the signature eatery, Al Mahara, which offers lipsmackingly good seafood in a spectacular underwater setting. The hotel can also arrange a number of outdoor acitivites for guests with itchy feet, such as a hot air balloon ride, a desert safari trip, horseback riding, a helicopter tour and a day out at the world-famous Montgomerie Golf Course. Then again, you could just sprawl across the hotel's pristine white beach and soak up some glorious Arabian rays. Whatever you do, the Burj Al Arab is one hotel you must check out - and check into  - at least once in your lifetime. After all, seven stars aren't awarded for nothing.
