Capital Gains
Tastefully decked out in shades of beige by designer Patrick Jouin – hardly adventurous, we know, but it works – Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester seats 80 well-heeled guests and overlooks Park Lane and Hyde Park. While Ducasse himself may not be sweating it out in the kitchen most days, he has left the latest addition to his portfolio in the very capable hands of Executive Chef Jocelyn Herland. With her expertise, the menu is brimming with technically accomplished options, such as the innovative squid bonbons to start and the poached Lanes chicken breast in a rich Albufera sauce of truffle, mushroom, Madeira and foie gras for main. Lipsmackingly good stuff! While it’s certainly not the cheapest place to dine in the capital, with the three-course menu totalling around £75, it’s fast becoming the hippest hangout for the filthy rich and ridiculously famous. Ring right now to get a table for next Christmas.
