While some will think that $25 is daylight robbery for simply picking up the phone and making a restaurant reservation, those who regularly hop from one restaurant opening to another will consider the service invaluable. After all, there's nothing more disappointing than gearing up for some grub at your favourite place only to find that it's packed-out with people more fabulous than yourself. Indeed, restaurants of today are akin to the Bungalow 8 nightclubs of yesterday; only the very best make the cut. So, to save the inconvenience and ego-bashing of being rejected at the door by a surly woman with a reservation book, those who can afford it won't begrudge splashing out to a secure a seat or two. Currently offering table reservations in New York, the Hamptons and San Francisco, TableXchange already has 1,000 members on its database, with more eager diners joining every day. No doubt they'll will be extending their services to other cities in the future, but in the meantime Upper East-Siders and Hampton-goers are slinking in and out of any eatery they damn well please - and quite rightly so.
